Protective UV Coating For Your Foam Roof

Protective UV Coating For Your Foam Roof

Our mission at Armstrong Foam Roofing is to provide our San Francisco Bay Area clients with the best and most sustainable roofing solutions available on the market today. That is why for more than 30 years, we have been installing Spray Polyurethane Foam (SPF Roofing) or foam roofing to flat and low-sloped roofs with a protective foam roof UV coating.

Protecting Your Foam Roof

SPF roofing offers you excellent waterproofing, insulation, and affordable and long-lasting protection. Since this system does not have seams or multiple layers, it eliminates the expanding/contracting and separating of seams that allow water and microbes to seep in and damage your roof. However, to protect the foam from the weather and the sun’s harsh ultra-violet (UV) rays, it is necessary to add a protective UV coating to prevent foam deterioration.

Armstrong’s Double Layer of Foam Roof UV Coating

The SPF UV coating applied by Armstrong Roofing consists of two layers of a monolithic elastomeric fluid which, when fully cured, is capable of being stretched to at least twice its original length and then returning to its original dimensions.

In addition, during the coating process, while the second UV layer of protective coating is still wet, we broadcast white ceramic granules which give roofs their cool-roof rating. The ceramic granules also provide traction and enhance durability.  It is vital to apply these UV coating layers to protect your roof and reflect the sun’s ultra-violet radiation in order to extend the life of your SPF roofing system for decades and is part of the originally installed SPF system.

Benefits of Armstrong’s Foam Roofing Systems

The main reason for the white roof UV coating is to reflect solar radiation. By doing so, it helps keep your roof cooler and reduce your heating and cooling system’s energy consumption by up to 40 percent. Best of all, your sustainable SPF roofing system only needs to be re-coated every 15 to 20 years to continue to protect your roof.

Consequently, by choosing to protect your roof with Armstrong’s SPF roofing systems and a double layer of coating with white ceramic granules, you extend the lifespan of your roof and eliminate leaks and any other moisture issues. But at the same time, you also increase your roof’s energy rating by reducing your heating and cooling system’s energy consumption while maintaining a comfortable indoor environment.
