Conversion of Shake Roof to Composition Shingle

The Start

Removal of Old Roof
The wood shake roof which is brittle, energy inefficient and flammable is removed.

Safety and Debris Collection
Work is completed from the top down to minimize debris entering the interior space while maintaining a solid surface for our workers. Old material is rolled as much as possible to help prevent materials from being scattered around the home.

Final Tear-off
Only the original skip sheathing is left in place.

Sheathing the Roof
The use of quality plywood, as opposed to OSB, results in a more dimensionally stable and water resistant substrate.

Dimensionally stable, ventilated, and sheathed with QUALITY plywood.

Material Delivery
Materials are schedule for roof top delivery when possible to increase efficiency and minimize potential damage to your grounds.  Seen below are roofing felts ready for application.

The leak barrier is being applied in the following pictures.

Shingling Starts

Ventilation
The ridge is cut to allow ventilation and cobra vents are installed which prevents insects from entering while allowing for adequate exhaust.
